In 2017 Delta and Optum Health engaged in a case study with an integrated approach that combined EAP, behavioral health, and medical benefits into a holistic suite of services. The following link provides an overview of the findings from this effort, along with other pertinent information regarding Optum and Delta: https://www.employershealthco.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/DeltaBestPracticesEAP.pdf
The 2020 Workplace Outcomes Suite Report reported on EAP usage on several demographics as well as some of their findings on the impact EAP utilization has on the workforce. Which can be found here:
2020 Workplace Outcomes Suite, part 1: https://wellbeing.lifeworks.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/WOS-annual-report-2020-part1-.pdf
2020 Workplace Outcomes Suite, part 2: https://wellbeing.lifeworks.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/WOS-annual-report-2020-part2.pdf
I made two more corrections to my portion of the slide deck. Slide 31 cited the Lifeworks 2021 Annual report regarding EAP usage by gender, and while it includes that information, the report is more so an overview of their finances. The 2020 Workplace Outcomes Suite provides more information on EAP usage and nothing on Lifeworks’ financial standing. I removed Lifeworks and substituted in 2020 Workplace Outcomes Suite.
On slide 37 I corrected two percentages at the bottom. The changes are minor but it was nagging at me. I’ve attached the corrected slide deck.
The Center for Workplace Mental Health (https://workplacementalhealth.org/), through the American Psychiatric Association Foundation, provides employer tools, resources and information needed to promote and support the mental health of employees and their families. While research has shown the effectiveness of mental health and substance use treatment, many people who need help are not getting it, despite the availability of services and supports through employee assistance programs (EAPs) and mental health benefit coverage. The Center for Workplace Mental Health’s team works with employers, business groups on health like the Florida Alliance, health-focused coalitions, and other strategic partners to identify and solve challenges while highlighting innovative approaches to improving workplace mental health and making it a higher organizational priority.
