On May 1, The Leapfrog Group announced the Spring 2024 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades. The grades reflect preventable medical errors, accidents, injuries, and infections that together kill more than 500 people per day in the United States.
In Florida, 191 hospitals were graded and 75 earned an “A,” 41 earned a “B,” 62 earned a “C,” 12 earned a “D,” and one hospital earned an “F.”
AdventHealth Daytona Beach is one of only 15 hospitals in the country and the only hospital in Florida to consistently earn an “A” grade since 2012.
According to Leah Binder, CEO of The Leapfrog Group, “Hospitals even in the same city can differ greatly in patient safety. A patient’s choice of hospital could be a life-or-death decision, and the Hospitial Safety Grade arms patients with data to help them make more informed decisions on where they seek care.”
